fuel leak found......OM606

I finally found the fuel leak on my 95 E300D. It is leaking where a clear fuel line connects to the fuel filter housing. It is the line that is connected directly below the back of the prefilter housing. Now, how do I fix this leak? Is there an o-ring inside or something???? Help, I have been driving my sons Wrangler and my back is killing me. LOL Jay PS. Anyone have a diagram of what all those different lines do.

All diagrams in there. Look under 'fuel injection system' once you've found your car.

If using Firefox, scroll down to see the pages properly.

Sounds like you are describing line #56, its no different than any of the other fuel lines.

It needs new o-rings or a replacement line.

I just got off the phone with my local MB dealer and he says that he dosen't sell just an O-ring, that I need to buy a new hose. So, I'm off to the hardware store to look for an O-ring. Thanks, Jay

My suggestion would be to buy the whole line from the MB dealer. It comes complete with the seals on both ends and you can replace it in 2 minutes. The part is probably on the order of $10 and then you don't have to deal with the other end leaking once you disturb it. Just bring the part number with you or show them which one on the EPC is the one you need...many of them are in stock at the dealers parts counter.

I did all of mine, just today, and the o-ring on the shutoff valve and the delivery valve seals to boot...so now I will hopefully not have to face any more leaks for a long, long, time.

Just an update. The new clear hose is installed and the leak is gone. 5 minutes to change the hose and an hour and a half to put everything else back together. She started right up.Thanks for all the advice, Jay.

Great news...hopefully that will be your last leak for a long time...did you land up removing the intake to do it? If it is the hose I think it is you should have been able to get to it by simply moving the washer bottle out of the way...5 minutes tops...

There are five of them actually - four are clear/white and one is a braided type. I had a leak a few weeks ago and changed three of those lines without removing the manifold. Then two weeks later, the other two failed.

My suggestion? Replace all of those lines at the same time - my second suggestion is to remove the intake manifold and do the job correctly. I just solved all my leaks this week and now she's up and running again.

I can appreciate having to replace the hoses, I did that earlier this year and am now in the process of replacing the crush washers and O-rings under the delivery valves on the IP. I am getting pretty good at taking off the intake maniflold. I would suggest to anyone that has to do this, take the time and do it right, by that I mean do everything that you can think of or that money allows. The socket to remove the injection valves is available from Phil along with all the other parts.
When I receive the socket, if you would like I could put a few pictures up showing the work done. Let me know, otherwise I won't. I will also check the glow plugs to as they are easy to get to now.

New Benz Owner, please post the pictures of the injector valve project.
NHDoc, I had to remove the intake to find the fuel leak. The leak was up front but it was dripping from a different spot. This was the second time that I removed the intake and it is fairly easy. Thanks again to everyone. Jay
