What rpm do cdis turn at 70?

Any cdi owners out there?

No cdi for me

I don't have a cdi, but my brother told me that most cars run at 1/2 rpm's of what the speed is. I never paid attention to that before, and don't know if it's true, but when we were doing 70, damn if the car wasn't at 3500 rpm.
