engine stopped running @25MPH

What do you guys think of a 85 300sd that the engine shuts off completely at 25MPH. I started on a cold day of 30 degrees did not let it warm up and got a 1/4 mile away and the engine stopped. I coasted to the side fired it up, went on my way, and haven't had a problem with it for a couple weeks. Filters or just not letting it warm up enough?

You lost one of the fire triangle, fuel, air, heat. Replace ALL filters. Have you had this vehicle long? Any history?

If the rack damper pin is out of adjustment this can happen.

rack dampener pin?

What is a rack dampener pin? If this is the case why did it start up fine two seconds later and hasn't had a problem since? I changed the filters on the car and this car is owned by someone that i am working for.

I'd suspect fuel, maybe a slug of water or ice in the fuel lines...if it hasn't done it again I would put it out of my mind and just keep driving. If it has been a while since you've changed the filters then do it just for kicks, can't hurt and with the new ULSD lots of crud is floating around in systems today. Don't go looking for problems though, if it is a problem it will come back and then it will be easier to find.

I'd guess a really clogged filter or tank screen. I'd replace both filters, and pull and clean the tank screen. Don't forget a new o-ring for the screen.
