boneyard om616. oil pan dented ,frontend damage, still good?
Would this be worth going after. Its a 240d 1981 w 300k mi and oil pan damage. on the front of the lower oil pan it is dented about 1 or 1.5 inches inward from the bottom. can be had for $120. It would be easy to remove since i've already gotten the manual tranny.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, as both of my oil pans are dented. However, I would pull the pan off and make sure the oil pump assy is OK. It is always nice to have a fresh gasket there anyway.....

Do a compression test and run it like you would any used engine. The oil pan dent is fairly common.

The first thing I would do is pull the lower oil pan and check for a cracked/broken oil pump. Other than that, accident vehicles are a great used engine source because that will pretty much guarantee that the engine run's well.
