606 = no priming pump.
The system is self-priming, just connect it to a battery charger and crank away. It helps to fill the main filter up with fuel before installing it.

Don't crank for more than 30 seconds at a time, and give the starter a 5-minute break after trying 3 times.

Nope, just fill up the new filter with fuel, bolt it on tightly, and start cranking to purge the air. A battery charger or second vehicle really helps because all the cranking usually drains the battery. If you're replacing the prefilter, also remember to replace the prefilter O-ring, it leaks very easily.

When I changed mine, I filled the main filter with new ATF (lacking a can of clean diesel fuel). It fired up as quickly as normal.

Filling the filter with fuel helps.

Make certain everything is buttoned up tight, you are trying to evacuate air, not let it enter.

Once it seems like it is starting keep cranking another sec or two to ensure it did catch and is running or you will start the process over again.

Automatic transmission fluid?? Is that stuff okay to run through the IP?
If I didn't have some bio laying around...DP would be my next choice, if I was out of that I would attempt to purge the dry filter......which I have done before not knowing to fill it up first.

I don't think new ATF will pose a problem, unless you run on it for a while. It clears from the lines in a few seconds once you start the engine.

If I had a can of diesel fuel or DP around, I would have used that instead.
