I agree with Tom.

I've done multiple OM61X rebuilds (all in the 200-300K range) and the ONLY thing I've found that wears out in these engines is the cylinder bores. They taper out and allow excess oil consumption. In every rebuild I've done the crank and bearings measured out with virtually no perceptable wear.

That said if see-mac is having main or rod bearing problems he should look for a used crank, as a previous poster pointed out working on nitride hardened forged crank journals is not a job for the typical machine shop.

Unfortunately its tough to diagnose this problem without seeing the crank and the bearings - and that requires an engine removal.
