New Key

i ordered a new ingition / door key for my 83 300d last week from the closest dealer in the minneapolis / st paul area. service guy was great to talk to. i sent him a photo copy of the wisconsin title for the car and a credit card number and this morning i have my REAL MB key and a receipt for $21.50 marked paid in full. what a super deal and i didn;t have to drive anywhere. i thought soume of you said these replacments were godawful expensive from the dealers ? ? ?

Sears IMported autos inc, Minnetonka Mn. the guys name is "Doc"

Some of us are more frugal than you are...
A replacement key should not cost more than $1.98 ...

boy you fellers are conserative. up here in the frozen northland, there are no locksmiths within less than 50 miles or so. and i kinda figure any trip i do not need to take to town is saving a bundle (usually its wal mart, target, the liquor store, etc) . and my closest dealer is nearly 200 miles from here. rural america is super most of the time but being able to leave your doors unlocked and your keys in your car and hunting in your back acres does have its drawbacks too. i also collect and am working on a few old hudsons. take one to a un-formal car meet in the summer (all three months of it) and most folks don't have a clue what they are. as far as mb's are concerned, there may be a dozen or less older models in various degree of RUST in the area.

I called him for my 82 SD, 107.80 for the tumbler with key, 25.00 for either the round or square key.

Keys for these cars are so cheap how can I complain! I think I paid $19 for the last one I ordered. I don't want to mess around, so I always use the dealer.

The keys for my friends newer MB's cost between $160-$200 so I enjoy rubbing it in! My key is steel and only cost me $20, haha!
