Changing Injection Nozzles

I'm pretty new to diesels and I want to replace my injection nozzles with the Bosio nozzles on my 98 300TD.

I'm hoping someone can help me with a couple of questions about replacing the nozzle.

Is there a link to step by step directions on how to do it?
Do you need any special tools to do it?

Thanks

You need a special socket to pull the injectors. You can find it on the special tools tab above.

Pulling them and having them pop tested and balanced would probably accomplish the same at a lot less cost; replacing without balancing them would be akin to not checking the gap on a spark plug.

My question would be why???

Have the old ones tested.....

Besides the 1 1/16" deep well socket (I understand all do not clear the return fuel spigots/fittings)...you will also need a torque wrench.....and a set of seal rings/heat shields....it is also a good idea to use some means of torquing the fuel lines on the pump and the injectors.....they are 17mm.....a crowfoot may work....or the proper tool is MB # 000 589 68 03 00

The special socket is pg 29 tool #606-0009. Its 22mm, not 27mm. I haven't seen one but it must be at least 5" long and VERY thin walled to fit down inside the walls of the valve cover. The injectors are WAY down in there.

I don't think its something you will find at a parts house.

I think you are referencing the older style injectors.

Talking I apologize......I didn't see the '98 there.....

Sorry, for some reason the '98 did not register......so used to thinking about the 617 motors that we talk about around here.....
