Diesel starter + age + corrosion =

1983 300D failed to start.

Symptom:

* Zero sound.
* Zero power draw.

This is NOT a common issue (except in road salt states), however it is easy to check for this.

A light and mirror and/or forcing your fingers to the braided cable to feel if it is broken.
