1984 300DT transmision slipping

My transmision started slipping when shifting into 3rd gear. Doesn't do it all the time, but I'm affraid it going to get worse. A friend said to change the tranny oil and filter and maybe it would correct itself, but after doing this today its still slipping. Any ideas of what I should check before I have it rebuilt or find a replacement?

It's probably not slipping, but flaring. A vacuum problem somewhere.
somebody here should be able to help you chase it down...don't worry, not major.

Found the loose vacumn hose that was causing the problem shortly after getting home from work. Thanks for all your help.
