That's what MOH says about getting another MB diesel. I looked at this car on ebay earlier in the week, than Wham - it's parked off the highway near work. The interior is very nice in this D and except for the rear end damage car was a looker.

Now the $2 question - how extensive is it to fix something like this?

how much are they asking for it. it looks like that would take alot of work to fix and alot of $$. if it was more than 2K unless u had the funds to fix it, i would pass. looks like the whole trunk is gone. but thats just my $00.02

Looks very totaled to me. In my state it would receive a salvage title lowering its value further.

I'd guess $3-5K in damage at retail body shop rates.

The seats also look to have more than 140K wear on them to my eye. You know how bad these old odometers are. My 85 with 311K looked like those seats before I rebuilt the bottoms.

Auction ends tomorrow at $1K now. Really just wanted to pull engine, trans, etc. But it sure was a well cared for car before it took it in the rear.

100% right on and that was my original thought.....until I stopped and took a personal look then that "R" word that gets me into more trouble than any other letter popped into my head

I know the "r" word very well. Ranks up there with the phrase "All I have to do is..." re...pair, ...place, ...build, ...move, ...adjust, etc.

I like how it syas slight damage!

I wouldn't call that slight damage. Too bad it got crunched it lookes like it was sweet car. Would make a great parts car. Lots of good body parts left, and the interior and engine are probably all in great condition.

It depends. The engine and tranny could fetch $2K, everything else is gravy. Need to bring my welder buddy by and see if that outer body shell could be HA with a cut off from another.

One of shortcommings is welding - basicaly I know zilch about it. Maybe I could just cut the back out and put a plank bed and stake side. Then everyone could flame me.

After I build some Woodys™ I'm doing that to TXBill's old 115 that I have out at Greg's. The perfect farm truck...may even put me summa dem longhorns on the hood.

Not necessarily, only if the insurance had totalled the car, but he states it has a clean title. So if that's true, you need not tell DMV it is smushed, only that it is currently not running or something like that. (and only if they ask). They won't need to inspect it since it's still titled in the system. (unless it was already reported as a total). That damage is definitely hefty, but I've seen and repaired much worse, it looks to be sheet metal to only one corner, very repairable with bodyworking knowledge and a few hydraulics. With all of the cars/projects I deal with, I've discovered all sorts of loopholes and ways to get around things with DMV, all you gotta do is say the right words they want to hear or hand them the right document....

Bought a 73 truck while back, had $800 in back fees on it, got it knocked down to $111 with one magic phrase....just gotta know how to work em....lol
