My TD (1987) also reads the wrong speed. This is because the Carrier (Differential) has been changed to a different gear ratio. It's tough finding a used/rebuilt Carrier for the 1987, so I had the Indy put one in from a 1987 sedan.
Is there a way to adjust the Speedo/Odo to make it read right??

In stock configuration my speedo was 7% fast and the odo was correct. Now my odo is 7% short, but my speedo is correct. Best part is, my rpms are 7% lower on the highway now. Taller tires...poor man's re-gear. You just have to remember to adjust the miles or your fuel consumption calcs will be bad!
