I changed my leaky oil return hoses on my 1981 300SD turbo diesel last year. The two hoses were $200 and labour was an additional $200. Its a BIG job involving lifting the motor and installing the hoses. My mechanic had a hard time removing the old ones and had to "torch" them off! Also, you need a special tool to remove the bottom hose, dieselgiant.com had a good tip by modifying a normal wrench to get in there proper. Now I have no leak after I park for awhile, and I also noticed my oil pressure is better! Maybe there was gunk in the old lines, as they looked original and I have 432,000 km on the old girl...a million anyone?

$400.00 for a pair of oil cooler hoses is high in most areas. |

it's not that big a job really... if you take out the A/C first.
30 minutes start to finish.
