memories of stinky.....
stinky was my 1979 240d. her history can be found searching 'pallbearers'. anywho, this car had a failing starter. and for the longest time when i went to start and she did not turn over, i would take out my tire iron and slap the starter. then we be off and running. today. sort of going back in time. my ford ranger would not turn over. could hear the solenoid engage. and kinda thought the battery was fine. so, out with the tire iron. got under the thing. and tapped the starter. off and running. now for a new starter.

I did that for a guy in the parking lot at the grocery store a while back. He wanted a jump start, but when I had him turn on his headlights they were nice and bright. So I had him turn the key while I smacked the starter with the entrenching tool I keep in the trunk. Started right up!

And here I thought that trick was a special service procedure specific to Chevrolets....
