Hey guys i did post a thread on my 124 with 250D engine, i suppose it is an OM 602. I have a severe problem of engine diesel miss especially during severe cold. I live in Finland where at the moment the temperature goes at an average of -15degrees celcius. The way it behaves it is as if it chokes coz when pressing for more gas the miss becomes nastier. I am thinking it is because the fuel pump but i was checking where and what kind of the fuel pump is there i couldn't!! Please anyone with an idea?

I'd consider that somewhat normal but it sounds a little excessive; in those cold temperatures, it's entirely possible that some of the cylinders aren't getting warm enough to fire immediately... a cold cylinder will miss until it warms up enough to combust.
Check all your glow plugs, if some cylinders have nonfunctioning glowplugs that could cause those cylinders to be so cold they don't allow combustion until the heat from the rest of the engine warms them up a little. |

if u can, plug it in, add anti gel to fuel, and check and replace glowplugs if needed.

That's 5F, which while good and cold, should be manageble with 5 good GP's and a good battery.
Plugging in a block heater would certainly help.

Is it a high mileage engine?
If it is high mileage, perhaps you have low compression on one cylinder. It takes heat to get them to run right when very cold, heat from a glo plug and heat from compression. If your missing one or both you will really have a miss. If the miss contines long enough, you might be able to dertermine what cylinder is doing the miss by loosening one injector at a time at the tubing nut at the top of the injector. When it is loosened a bit it will missfire because the injector is dead. When you have isolated the problem cylinder you can move parts around, like glow plug or injector and see if the problem will move with it. If it does not move, then you have a compression problem in rings, valves or piston itself.

Thank you guys both, but may be i did not elaborate properly. Yes the thing is old an 85 model nearly clocking 500thou.To start is not an issue here, i know some hp's aren't good or broken i will replace them anyways, so the car have good block heating and after some cranking it starts normally with some initial misses. The miss i am talking about sounds like there is a chocked filter or air passing thru the system. If when driving on a smooth plain road it misses thru and it became normal again. One day i did travel to another city170km away, on a highway i can cruise normally for about 45 min with a steady 120 km/h and abruptly comes a miss. So it comes and goes all the time and worst thing as the temperature drops further it becomes nastier! Believe me when it is warm the problem goes away totally!! Is there a steel filter somewhere which might be clogged or it contained some water from vapor and gets frozen ? Today temp dropped further below and damn i had to stop 2 times when going to work 3km from my home.
