1995 E300D questions

All,

I have been thru this thread (http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/search.php?searchid=1183256)

but my problem is a bit different, I think.

The glow plug comes on as usual for a cold start but the engine rumbles and shakes as if it is only firing on a few cylinders. Once the rest "catch" it runs fine. The glow plug light will come on about 5 min into the drive then go out.

Every time I start the engine during the day (warm start) the glow plug light will come as stated above.

There is 187,000 on the engine. Before I jump to conclusions, and swap out parts I want to make sure I'm headed in the right direction.

This is a classic symptom of having at least one defective glow plug.

Your link goes to a search window.

Take care if you attempt to R & R the GP's they are delicate and can break off; use multiple applications of penetrating oil and allow it multiple days to work. Firing up the engine after removing the intake and warming the head(alum expands faster than other metals) and then quickly pulling the GP's has been suggesed to help as well. Go easy.

Also check the fuses in the glow plug relay.

I'll look for the fuses in the relay box, worst that can happen is that I get to change out the glow plugs.

Thanks for the replies!
