Window won't go down (motors work)

The two drivers side windows on my 1981 300d will not go down. When I press the switch both motors make noise. I can adjust the front window by grabbing it between my palms. Any trouble shooting ideas? I have removed the door panel from the front door but am not sure where to go from here.

it could be the track slider, it is alittle plastic piece underneath the window itself, connected to the slider arm.

Its not a hard job at all to replace the plastic sliders. The kit comes with everything you need.

Sounds like a slider problem. HOWEVER, first time I have heard about a window problem on a 123 other than a switch. Diesel Giant is a help, yet, remember, they are trying to sell you something.

I think you need to take the door panel off and take a look.
Telling us "My window won't go down" isn't telling us enough.

Had the same problem...

...in my '85, the rivets (2 of them) holding the window regulator together sheared off. I was able to replace the rivets but the soft metal (I used a "repair" rivet) sheared after a couple of weeks. You can also have the part welded. I ended up replacing the regulator, about $125.

Take the door panel off (carefully) and see what's inside.

See my thread Something went "POP" in my door
for information and pictures.

I had the gears on my regulator strip off. did u try to open them when they were frozen, that could have stripped the teeth off.
