un-even idle

can this be attributed to a clogging primary fuel filter? Havn't changed it since i first got it for about 22K miles. seems to run fine and no power loss that i can tell. BTW its my euro 240D. Still trying to get the 300D up and running agian

usually air in the IP. crack the lines one at a time to see if you can isolate the problem.

When a filter starts to plug up you will notice a "miss" at high RPMs, demand for fuel at high load times is getting restricted. At idle, not much fuel required.

Is your fuel tank nearly empty? If so try running on a full tank and see if there is an improvement, if yes then there's a possibility that air is getting pulled into the fuel line between the take up pump on the IP and the tank.

Uneven, as in shaking, or "steady" fluctuation? All the time at idle, or occasionally? Fluctuation, only noticable at idle, in the SD was cured by replacing rack damper bolt, an adjustment may have been all that was needed. I do get a "miss" at idle sometimes when engine hot. SD and CD both. Can't hurt to change filters. Hope this helps.
