4speed swap driveline question
Can I put the short piece of the driveshaft from a 240 with the longer piece from a 300d. the center bearing on the 300d shaft is in good shape. and I could get credit from the boneyard for the 240d drive shaft which has a bad center bearing. I wil have it all balanced anyway in the end so it should work they are the same length. Correct?
Thanks

The front section of the drive shaft will have to be slightly longer than the auto drive shaft. You could have the front section of the 240D shaft shortened and have it balanced with your auto rear shaft.

driveline shortening
I have gathered that 4" is the amount to cut the driveline and shift linkage. Is this correct. Also is $250 a decent price to do the work on the driveline. I thaught I read someone got it done for $150. Anyone in the SF bay area know of a good deal on this job.

That is the correct legnth off the top of my head. I paid $350 or so for the balancing, a new support bearing, and new U-joint. Be sure to take it to a place that knows MB drive shafts. You may want to consider mailing it up here to http://www.driveshafts.com/pages/mercedes.html
I lucked out that they are local. They know their MB driveshafts. http://www.driveshafts.com/pages/mercedes_ujoint.html
