1985 300TD will not start with key
Hello folks,
So I can start my vehicle by jumping the wires in the little module in front of the battery, but I replaced the neutral safety switch and no change, still cannot start with key. The NSS seems to be working in the sense that the backup lights come on when you put it in reverse, but no luck with the starting of the car. All the instrument lights come on, glow on, etc, but there is nothing happening when you turn the key to #3 position. I tried starting in all gears, PRND21, all the same reponse. I have power to the NSS, hence the backup lights working, but on ignition. So any ideas, is this/does this have to be the ignition switch, thanks in advance for any replys. The Kid |

it would seem to be but suggest that you use a volt meter and measure the voltage if any at the purple[or violet] wire under the hood while someone turns key to start position to see if what you have is low voltage caused by some kind of resistance in wiring or connections[the car is only 22yrs old].
