Bought a 2 post lift

I bought an old used 2 post lift to work on my diesels! $450, very heavy duty old american made, looks to be 70s or 80s vintage.

Now I just need to buy some beer so I can get some volunteers to help set it up!

Just make sure your slab is thick enough to anchor it to. Minimum is 4" and most like 6". Most light slabs aren't that thick.

I had the 2 post in mind when i built the garage. I put in scissor trusses that give you a cathedral ceiling. i am 12' 3" at peak, and 9' 6" at the sides.

The floor is 5" thick 6000psi concrete with wire reinforsement.

Call me paranoid, but on something of that age, and second-hand, I'd invest in 3 or 4 railway sleepers

Just in case.....

A professional lift won't really increase the value of a home, it's too much of a niche thing.

If you can get your mom to install a lift, you've got an amazing mom.

My mom disliked my fascination with old jalopies in high school, until I used my tools to fix the dryer, the kitchen sink, the lawnmower, the garage door opener....

A mom that installs a lift.... well that's some kind of super-mom, and/or smart enough to know that it will keep a kid at home more often than hangig out with the punks down the street.

You just did what I have in mind to do... unfortunately, I can't do it where I live now. Ceiling not tall enough. Plus, don't know where to find them yet. Next house will either have to have a tall garage or a tall pole barn. Congrats
