Extended Warranty question for 1995 E300D

Hi,

Just purchased a beautiful 1995 E300D with just over 100,000 miles. I've been told that I should consider a extended warrenty for this vehicle. I can get a 5 year plan for about $1,000. Is anyone familar with these warrenties for older vehilcles? Does anyone have an opinion on these warrenties?

Most aftermarket warranties are crap, I have been told the best ones come from AAA though.

The engine, and the transmission on these cars are Bulletproof. However, the most common and expensive problem areas on this model are the following:

- Leaking AC Evaporator (Approximately $3,000, Parts and Labour)
- Defective Engine wiring harness ($1,000 parts and Labour
- Stuck Glow Plugs, requiring removal of the head ($3,000 Parts and Labour)

If the extended warranty covers the above, and if those parts have not been changed yet, then I would say the warranty may be worth it, otherwise Don't bother.

Warranties are designed to make money for the company selling them. They are not designed to save you any money.
