Smile ignition 1980 300sd

hi guys....and ladies....

i am currently in montclair, ca driving my 1980 300sd. issue i am having is with the ignition switch. it is not turning smoothly so i have to jiggle the key out a bit and even then it is giving me issues....i cannot start it smoothly by just sliding the key in and turning the ignition.

is the only solution to go to the local dealer and buy a new key?

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

lyle in montclair, ca

i believe you need to switch out the ignition switch. it will eventually get stuck to the point that you will not beable to get the key out or start it.

if you search you will find quite a few posts about this issue
