It is not glued on, There are 3 plastic snap clips underneath of it. I have taken mine off by very carefully sliding the blade of a DULL edged putty knife with rounded off corners under the top edge of it and working it off from one end to the other, I prefer a putty blade over a screwdriver as it spreads the force better to help avoid digging a hole in the paint or making a ding in the metal. It takes a little force and you have to be as mindful as you can of the paint (which is why I emphasize to use a dulled blade) be ready to replace one or more of the clips, I usually have at least one break on me coming off. Reinstalling I slide it up from underneath until it hooks the clips, then give it a quick bop with my hand to snap the top on. The holes for the clips tend to be areas that can get rusty too, as road dirt over years collects inside the fender behind those holes so be ready to find that as well. If you are removing the fender(s) be sure to clean out all of that dirt and check all of the body seams behind the fender for chipped/loose sealant. This was a pristine looking fender on a rust free car I am restoring, I found this rust hiding under the trim.

wow, thanks for the photos. i've been studying it. when you say "working it off from one end to the other" does the trim slowly gets pull away from the car during the process ? or slide forward or backwards or downward ?

it looks like 3 clips on top and 2 clips or something on the bottom ?

are these clips readily available at a local auto shop or specific to MB only which means a trip to the dealership ?

another piece of trim in question, see pic. its coming loose at the front, it looks like the first and second screw/nail-like piece that goes into the red plastic clips are broken off. is there a way to fix this or do i have to buy new trim pieces ? thanks.

Used to have a piece lying around, IIRC, they had pins sticking toward fender that fit into plastic female parts that fit into holes in the fender that Hans built, do-da, do-da. Alright, I'll stop. Anyway, I think I priced these, and found not too expensive. It's been a while. Thinking from here http://*************** go to trim parts.

I know you can buy the red clips, they are often call "red berries". I hope you can buy new pins for the trim...I need several.

I'd be interested in that also, the intercooler as well.

I just slide the blade under it & pry outward at the top, it gets quite stiff but it will eventually snap off. It's only 3 clips along the top, the 2 holes below are for the bolts that attach the fender to the car body

On the strip trims, the pins that hold them on are 2 parts, there are female collets that snap into the fender, then pin type clips that snap into the trim, and then the trim with the pins is snapped into the collets, I can get a pic on that too if you need. I have all this stuff apart right now on my 82, and have done it before on the 80 when I swapped out a fender that literally rusted in half.

BGKAST, I'll see what I can do, it's going to be a while yet before the 80 goes down for parts, but when it does theres a couple pieces of mashed trim I wont be needing, so I'll see if I can "open" the trim and get the pins to plop out.
