190D Sets speed record

My temperature guage was spiking up to 120 so I studied the posts and decided to try a new expansion tank cap. The test involved duplicating the original conditions, so I road tested by matting my 2.2 L for a mile or two to get it rolling real good. I crested the hill at 80 or so, watching the temperature all the time..
Should have watched the road better I guess, because now I have a speeding ticket for 212.00 and two points on my license. I got no sympathy for my method of coolant system testing.

1.) Radiator cap has a lot to do with overheating.
2.) 190D's really are capable of breaking the law. This ismore remarkable than #1 really.

You would have been SOL if he found out.....don't know what the rules are where you live but some places have very steep penalties.

Although I have never heard of a diesel car having its tank checked...only trucks.

but he did say he set a record and it sounded as if he could have been headed down a hill.

140mph in a 190D 2.2 would be a record!....if that was the case that would require a considerable turbocharger

A thought... if your turbo is overboosting you'd get a heat spike when pushing it, but not during normal driving. I'm sure there are multiple other causes though.

Could a 190 even hit 140mph at terminal velocity?
