Incorrect Oil Cooler Lines from ********az!
Hey guys,
Brief emergency announcement for any 126 owner that was thinking about doing their oil intercooler lines in the near future! I recently purchased both upper and lower cooler hoses from the respected *************** and installed them last weekend. The short version of the story is that they actually sent me the lines for the 300D (W123 chassis) which are slightly different causing a huge situation. SO! If you are thinking of buying them, go to **************.com and purchase them there because they currently have the correct ones (at I think a bit cheaper too!) The slightly longer version is this: Upon receiving the lines and two motor mounts that I ordered as well, I started the job on Saturday at about noon time. I knew very well that the job can be a bear regardless but when installing the new lines, not only did I notice a slight change in the line bend on the oil filter housing side of the new upper line, but I stupidly assumed that the aftermarket company had simply made a mistake in their production and that it would still work. I was partly correct in the latter half of that thought- they do still work. But, since the bend is more gradual on the 123 upper line, it caused the section of the hardline closest to the A/C compressor to be too close for comfort and is up against one of the three bolts that hold the compressor in place. (Incidentally, the lower line is still incorrect but it wasn't as grossly off so it didn't seem to cause problems.) The upshot is that I spent a days work trying to get these lines in (Dieselgiant was right- I was cussing in German by the end of it) and now I've got to do the whole show all over again. Two good things though: One, my left motor mount was completely destroyed and the vibrations (especially when cold) got dramatically worse a few weeks ago. It has never been this smooth since I have owned it and it is almost eerie since my ears were tuned into the vibrations to detect something going off. Two, I didn't replace the shocks the first time around because of cost but now I will get the chance even though the thing is markedly better with only the mounts replaced. I'll post some pictures tomorrow of the bolt that its rubbing up against the compressor and the old mount that failed. As of now, the customer service rep for ********az has been pretty helpful and attentive however he has discovered that the company's importers have all apparently made them wrong (which I find hard to believe) but there it is. My advice is to get on ************** and compare the lines on the two models- (******** shows the correct ones for each model but they won't ship the right one to you!)

Caveat emptor
So I bought a pair of motor mounts from Phil.
They must have been knock-offs as they were too soft and resulted in the a/c belt cutting into an oil cooler hose. I went to the dealer. THe mmt's were only a few bucks more and correct. I had to buy a new oil cooler line. So it was an expensive foray in to internet parts purchasing. Recently I purchased some Meyle parts and they came in a box with a small shiny holographic anti-tamper seal. It wouldn't suprise me to find knock-off parts from China or who knows where. Ditto,
I can't see why you installed them when they were different than original. Actually, if they are willing to take them back, or reimburse you for a previously installed part....their customer service should be given honorable mention. Odds are you can't go to a dealer or local parts store and do that. In reality, since most parts are shipped from a WorldPac warehouse, not a single location, the likelyhood of possibly getting a different/incorrect part increases. So any bashing or accusations of selling knock-offs are misdirected.
