Winmutt in response to your reply in #10, the majority of any pieces of the PC's have luckily long departed your cylinders. I have an example of what a disintegrating PC can do to a piston and cylinder.

1981 240d (engine donor 1983 240d) recently rebuilt engine hurray! - No more.. fought a tree and the tree won.

pearl black 1983 240d 4speed (Converted!@$$%) atleast the tranny was rebuilt.

Oh lol i just saw that, im quite tired. You could seal that up possibly with silicone sealant around the mount, and bolting it on, i doubt it would leak.

Not to hi-jack this thread, but there's another hole on the other side of the block. I haven't pulled the pan off to see if the crank is damaged or if there's any other damage.
This came out of an unknown SD. It was a freebee.
