300D axle rubber

For an 85 300D, how do you remove and replace the rubber that covers the axle... one of the it near the differential, and the other one is near the wheel?

Lift rear end or car..beer of choice....remove rear wheel...remove 13mm shaft bolt from axle center.....beer of choice....drop diff' assembley down...drain diff oil...remove end plate.....beer of choice......extract C clip in spider gear housing...ease axle from wheel end and then diff end.....beer of choice.....remove boot...replace boot...reassemble axle....beer of choice.....fit to car....fill diff...attach wheel...lower car ...beer of choice.

There's two kits available...one has metal cans and rubber boot, #126 350 02 37 the other has rubber boot only, #126 350 03 37.

The cans need special tool to uncrimp/re crimp. The rubber boot only kit comes with rubber boot, three clamps and grease pouches.

You need two kits for each axle.

Okay, how much is this tool? I own enough MBs to warrant spendy tool purchases... It's gotta be less than $300 for a pair of reman axles.

Next, I'd need four 126 350 02 37 to do two axles correct?

Lastly, what about all the ~8mm allens that bolt the axle to the diff?

What is this can for?

Since you need 2 kit per axle, I think the dealer told me it has an inner and outer one? So do you need one of each kit you listed, or I need two of either one?

What kind of special tool is that to crimp it?

Since you have to drop the differential, think it is a good idea to replace the mount and flex disks?

I'd do the mount and discs... sway bar mounts too.

There are no ring of 8mm bolts on MB axles...that is VW and Audi territory...
...wheel end is held in with one long center bolt and diff' end held in with C clip inside diff' housing.

Yes, there is. But they don't hold it into the differential.

But that's not a 123 or 126 chassis axle.

My axles finally failed. Initially I was going to replace the can and boots. Bought both cans and boots... but without the proper equipment, it was difficult to install them. I just ran it till it finally gave up...

Anyway, here are my axles. Are they annular or the homokinetic axles? since I need to order them, its good to know which one I should order. I've been reading that it is good to order from CVJ... anyone had experience with the axles from fastlane?

CVJ is here in Denver. I've had some good interactions with them before and I will get my axles from them when the time comes (Might be soon, my axle boots are starting to crack from age).
