Do I have to admire his conviction, even if I think his thesis has no merit?

I think not.

And that's about how long your engines will live, if that.

You obviously haven't learned from your first attempt here. You aren't going to convince anyone that your engine abuse is actually good for anything. Ask anyone who must maintain a fleet of vehicles and they will tell you that frequent oil services are the key to a long life.

Our fleet of GMC 6500/7500 trucks (At Allied Insulation) are being serviced at 2500 mile intervals. Through a combination of the drivers not reporting their miles like they are supposed to and three other mechanics being fired, I am left as the sole person to maintain a 150 vehicle fleet until I can train a new hire. Since I am not God, I can't keep up with the demand of such a large fleet on my own. As a result some trucks have gone 6,000-10,000 miles past their oil change requirements. Already long story short, two of our engines now have an audible knock with less than 50,000miles on the odometer.

Change it hot and change it often.

Here's the skinny...

Car manufacturers, like BMW, tell you 15,000mi so that the Dealer Window sticker reflects less maintenance costs in an effort to sell you THEIR car. (And poorly maintained vehicles mean more sales as well)

Oil manufacturers and 'jiffy' lubes tell you 3,000 because they want to sell THEIR products and make money, too.

Get it?

Your data means absolutely nothing. Are you sure the 2 are really damaged? Are you sure the lack of an oil change every x miles caused this?

2 out of 150 might have gone south with continuous oil changes every 100 miles.

Sounds like you're trying to justify your existence.
