W124 Drivers Window only goes down 1/2"
My window in the front drivers side in my 87 300d won't go down. I know there are some interior experts here as well as diesel experts, what should I be looking for first on one of these cars?
Also my rear door will open but is VERY hard to close, I'm assuming its the little bar that goes into it from the door jamb. What might be the issue with that?

Well, the window is moved up and down by the Window Regulator. It's inside the door and driven by an electric motor. One or both are broken.
The little metal thing is called a check strap. They wear out. Cheap and easy to replace. Also can stick in the open position, which would not be a good thing. Steve |

I don't have my FSM on my work Computer right now, does it have a good section on pulling the interior panels off the doors?

It is fairly clear. **************.com has a little tutorial book that is pretty helpful. There might be an entry in the wiki as well. The rears are more straightforward than the front as you don't have to mess with the trim at the side view mirrors.
When you replace the door check make sure to use one with the plastic cover. Also apply some grease within the mechanism.

Probably just a switch
If the window goes down and 1/2 way up using the console switch, then try the switch on the door itself, see if that works. If it does work well from the door, the switch at the console is bad.
