carb adjustment

Howdy from Nashville

Need some info about the fuel rate adjustment screw on my 1985 300D TD. Which direction is lean and which is rich. It smokes badly in has no low end power but runs great on the interstate. It seem to be getting too much fuel.

My "experienced mechanic" messed up the fuel adjustment. I refuse to pay him any more money due to the fact that it runs worse every time he touches it. My neighbor is a good mechanic who works long hours. I hate to bother him but he offered to help out.

What you are talking about is the ALDA. CCW increases fuel, CW decreases.

Is your 85 a California model?

fuel injector adjustment

Thanks for the response

Yes it is a California model

And yes I know it is a fuel injection pump and not a carb, I was tired and did not use the correct term.

If it smokes badly, with no power and it's a California model (with the TrapOx in the exhaust), it's likely time to have the TrapOx replaced. It is a maintenance item.
