Help! Vacuum Lines From ALDA 124

Does the vacuum line from the ALDA in a 1987 300TD go to the upper or lower port on the switchover?. Obviously the Manifold line would go to the other.

I should have taken a picture before starting!!

Manifold to lower, ALDA to upper.

I had called Fastlane, because I have it apart and need to go get my son from school, and they said the opposite? Does it matter??

Yes, it matters. The Alda line has to blow out the vent in the top when powered, the manifold shouldn't.

The manifold to lower is how my car is plumbed, I just looked, but it might be wrong (works though). Whichever one blows out the top/vent when you apply 12v to the solenoid is the one to the Alda.

There is a picture here somewhere.

here it is:

ALDA, The 603 and Terminology (pics)

Shows the manifold line on the bottom also.

Ok, its back together with the alda to the upper fitting and the manifold to the lower fitting. Still don;t think i get enough power though. The lines were filthy, clogged etc. Maybe i have to replace the switchover valve.

It was mentioned here (credit given to unknown poster) that plugging the manifold line directly into the alda, TEMPORARILY bypassing the switchover valve, will restore power if this is the problem. If no difference, look elsewhere. You can push a WD-40 type straw into the fitting on the intake plenum also to see if it is restricted / clear the restriction.
