The perfect parts car is, ...
My recent acquisition is a southern car, and every vacuum line is so brittle even bumping them makes the little plastic buggers snap. The rubber parts are brittle and cracking, even the snubbers at the sides of the trunk lid are missing the rubber coating, ... and of course the dash is cracked to hell and the A/C is well used. Usually the interiors are pretty faded also, but fortunately not on this one. The heat and sun are brutal on these things. The body is so straight.
So my parts car is a lifelong Michigan car. Body not great, different things under the hood and under the car are rusty and hard to disassemble, but all of the plastic and rubber is still soft and supple from the lack of sun and heat. Between the two of them, I'm going to end up with one nice ride.

Something to be said Northern cars...
My car, the '85 300D in the photo in my sig. spent all of it's life in the DC area, until she became a "country car"......garage kept, city car, ,minimal rust, well maintained, one time "Certified pre-owned Benz", mechanically great, a few dings on solid body......just a city car, and has had the city's parking lot problems.....my daily driver......would cost a small fortune to "restore" the body without using bondo........but has never been in a collision according to CarFax.....
My ideal parts car would be the same color but a 240D with a manual transmission......maybe even a Euro Model......I am unconcerned about engine mileage or problems........ SB
