Viton seals for IP's
howdy folks:
dunno how much this has been discussed - but as I am investigate Denso IP 's for some Toyota diesel , I have to wonder how everyone is fairing with the new ULSD and their IP's I have been running B99 for 2.5 years in my LR 90 200Tdi with only ill effects to the rubber return lines When I speak to Bosch IP specialist , they are quick to say they have been soaking rubber seals in Bio for 6 months with no ill effects I feel the culprit is more to ULSD as last October I drove to Victoria B.C. from Palm Springs Cali - one tank I did not add 2 gal of b99 as I normally do my IP on my F350 - Stanadyne IP has been leaking ever since Anyone else run across some information on rubber seal's - ULSD effects on them ? etc... I did mention to the Bosch IP specialist I was not concerned with bio but the effects of ULSD - his only response was he had NO access to Viton seals for these Bosch VE pumps Also - anyone come across a supplier where we can get viton seals for of 617OE's IP's? enjoy weeks end: Cheers and thanks for your conciderations

Howdy Larry :
Cheer thanks for the reply : climate of course is important - but if the new ULSD diesel will eat normal rubber in 3 months as I am hearing from many guys I talk with on an Australian board - i prefer to seek only VITON - dunno your location - do you have ULSD , have you been using it will no ill effects ? might you share the details of your average fuel consumed - Dunno - I have only one negative experience with ULSD as all my smaller diesels 4-5 cyl are running either b50 or b99 and so far no problems with the fuel as I mention I think I mentioned one tank of ULSD and my IP on my Navistar is leaking and it takes a good 5 minutes to get it started - better when its hot out then when its cold perhaps I am lucky where I now reside it seldoms dips below 0ºc in winter cheers ya

The deal with the new ULSD is that it shrinks rubber. Shrinking causes leaking. And it is happening on all diesels, new and old.
There are no rubber seals in the 617 engine's IP. So there are no o-rings to be replaced. Diesel Giant has a DIY IP seal replacment on his site for the later IPs that do have rubber seals.
