Trans problem; into 4th in 100 ft
Hi,
Vehicle data: 1985 190D 4sp Automatic Transmission 110k miles Was running fine. Over night the problem started. Now it will shift 1st, 2nd, 3rd, into 4th within 100 feet. Tried adjusting the cable with no affect. It will not shift down with the throttle, even when the kick down button is engaged. The only way to shift it down is by the shifter knob. And when shifted with the knob it does not feel right. It "lurches" into the next lower gear. Thanks ahead of time for all the help!

Gonna give you a bump, I don't know the answer but someone here does.
Are you sure the bowden cable is attached at the transmission end?
