'81 300D coolant ports - possible to tap into for heated fuel filter?
Instead of cutting into the heater line, I'm thinking of taping into one of the plugged head coolant ports to pull coolant off to heat a fuel filter. There are 4 ports, one is used to pull off for the heater loop, one is tapped for what appears to be the coolant temp sending unit, and two are plugged with threaded plugs. Some questions I'm wondering about:
- What affects will it have down the line to pull coolant off from the port near #5 cylinder? Will this create problems with heating/cooling the rest of the head/cylinders?
- Are the water jackets in series or parallel configuration?
- I've been told that the threads for the ports/plugs are a British thread pattern. Any way to convert them to NPT or to get British fittings?
- Where would be the best place to tie back into the coolant system with the return line?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
