Hello Gentlemen! What is the most ideal viscous fan clutch oil viscocity for all weather especially on hot summer days to keep the cooling system at it's most efficient performance? Thanks!

there's been some experimentation on this very topic. Don't recall where I saw it. Somebody found an oil from Toyota, IIRC, that was appropriate for this application. I'd suggest a search on "viscous fan clutch repair" or perhaps somebody will be able to direct you to the earlier thread.

How thick is 10,000 cst?
Similar to 10w? 30w? gear oil?? I have access to silicon oil in various viscosities, but no way to measure the viscosity.

Can anyone share the Toyota part # for the 10,000 cst viscous fan clutch oil?
I just went to a local Toyota dealership and they seem to have no clue whatsoever of what I was asking about. Are the another brand or source of this fan clutch oil aside from Toyota? Is there any generic name or brand of it that is usable for a W123/OM617 fan clutch? Thanks!

I originally tried the Toyota oil. I think it only comes in 4000, 6000 cst and/or 8000 cst? I'm sure it would all work fine, but I decided to drill my fan clutch to fill and used some 10,000 cst that someone on the forum was kind enough to offer, after I'd used up my Toyota oil. I wish I could remember who it was, because it was really nice of him. Apparently he had got his in bulk and shared it with some of us. This was a while ago.
The 10,000 is just what was given me, and it worked fine. It was from the nameless benefactor and he had tried it first with good results, so I did.
