Weird loss of rpm

Yesterday I was working on the 300D and noticed that when I hold the rpm at say 2000 for more than 10 seconds ,the rpm will drop off by itself to about 1000(with out my changeing throttle position). Also ,the idle has become rough ,espescially when the car is positioned on a hill with the front end lower than the rear. Sounds like a fuel flow problem, and since both fuel filter at the engine have been changed recently, I assume that maybe the tank strainer/screen is clogging. Any help/input is apprieciated .Thanks ,Jim B.

Swap your in and out from the fuel tank drive around for a few miles and swap them back, this will blow out the gunk in the screen. What are the chances you have air in the line?

Anything is possible. I notice that there is a air bubble in the fuel filter that never goes away .Also see small bubbles(very small)seem to be flowing into the filter as the veihcle is running. Is this the gremlin? Thanks ,Jim B.

Air leak between the prefilter and the tank. Time to replace some 23 year old hoses.
