Squeaking Sway Bar Bushings: Annoyance or Safety?

My front-end squeak/creak is due to my sway bar bushings (so I'm told). Is there a safety issue here, or simply an annoyance for as long as I'm willing to put up with it?

Thanks.

if it's truly the swaybar making the noise, it is simply annoyance. the thing can be removed, cut in half, whatever, and it will not adversely effect your car... except in cornering. all it does is keep your car close to level on hard corners.

It actually does much more than that, the balance between front and rear suspensions/rollbars determine how much understeer/oversteer the car has in various situations.
