racism can be a very ugly trait, however how can you denounce racism if you hate gays is my question- smacks of hypocrisy

okay d.delano.
i seems i must spell out a any sarcasm , even when followed by maniacal laughter text.

the term "flaming ******s" was used to illustrated the stupidity of racism, bigotry, and any other intolerance- in response to the hihjacking of a thread because of some a-hole's backhanded comment regarding a cars being "ethnically owned".

sorry you didnt get it.

The chrome wheel arches are a fashion choice, not necessarily AA.
But, gold emblems are a black thing. And that's a fact.

Excuse me for noticing.

BTW, 877 Petrol is a great color!

My 83 300SD came with crome arches and crome bundts and when I park it next to one without these items the other car usually looks kind of bland. The rest of this thread looks like its showing some peoples true mentality, but what can you do.

Okay. Nothing is 100% black and white (pun intended) when it comes to matters of taste. I can only speak from personal experience, and the only people I have ever seen with gold Mercedes emblems on their cars have been people of color. (Not hubcaps or license plates, but trunk star etc.) And I'm not saying it's a bad thing. That's just been my experience. That's all I am going to say on it.

My experience has generally been that most of the people I've seen who put extra chrome on their MBs usually are older individuals (60+) of any race, and own models older than the W124. My theory is they like more chrome because when they were growing up, they saw cars like this, and thus, they feel their MBs need more chrome too.

I was going to make a comment about the ethnically owned comment but you guys have handled it so well I surely don't need to.

LOL several times!

IMHO, if you feel a need for chrome, find some chrome wheels and bolt them on. That way it is totally temporary.

Personally I don't like the looks of the chrome lips and if my cars have any non stock parts I usually put the stock stuff back on when I sell. I think most folks prefer a non tampered look.

That way they can do whatever they want from bling to black out on the trim.

What about them?
Are you saying they're acting... "black" or something?

Why would you say that?
What are you implying?
What is the meaning of the pic's title, "wigger"?
I think you're a racist.

Anybody can play that game.

I agree. Personally, I like the wheel arch chrome and chrome or polished wheels. I think it complements the OEM chrome around the windows, mirrors, grille, emblems, etc. I don't think the 123 theory was minimalist at all, considering the amount of OEM chrome, although they were targeted at the "working class".
Most U.S. domestic vehicles had factory wheel arch chrome prior to 1990 as well, not to mention the acres of chrome on the vehicle pictured above. My 300D had the chrome wheel arches when I purchased it and I like them, although I probably would not install them on a cherry vehicle because of the the rusty lips I found under mine. My $.02

That's my father to a "T", except for the MB part. A 63 yo, balding white man, as unpretentious as they come and could care less what anyone else thinks. He's got a PT Cruiser for his run-around car. The week after he got it, the boxes of stuff started showing up. Chrome grille, chrome bumper covers, chrome beltline kit, chrome wipers and the Chrysler Flying Goddess hood ornament. Relative to today's plastic-trimmed, monochrome cars, there's a lot going on there. But for a guy reliving some of his youth, it's about on par for the amount of chrome they had back then. He did get a good amount of satisfaction removing the stock "chrome" plastic and other plastic pieces and replacing them with metal.
