240D vibration
I have a high speed vibration from around 55 mph to 45 mph when slowing down in my 1975 240 d with the 4 speed manual transmission, though I can't find anything loose or rubbing underneath it.It sounds like a rubber bushing letting 2 metal pieces vibrate against each other.any ideas? thanks

did you check the bracket that holds the exhaust that comes off the side of the transmission?

Might take a look at the felx discs on either end of the drive shaft and the center bearing. There shoudn't be any slop in the center bearing. And the flex discs soundn't have any cracks or funny wear marks.

My experience has always told me that 80% of vibrations come from the tires/wheels. That said, I just put new tires/wheels on my 1984 300D and I have a very mild vibration right at 30mph - I'll be checking the flex disk next.
