The recovery work on the Chocolate Benz is going well but I discover that I am getting quite a bit of junk in the fuel filters. When the weather cools off I will probably yard the tank and clean it. In the meantime what is available to treat algae? I tried a search but didn't come up with a brand. Has anyone used a chemical successfully. My car sat unused for several years.

Biocide is a product sold to the marine market that is said to work well. Have a couple filters handy.

I think I got mine from Midwest-Diesel, but I can't remember. Bought it so long ago and still have more than half left.

I could not find any brand of biocide at parts stores or truck stops in my area. West Marine ordered it and it only took a couple of days and no shipping. They had two brands in their catalog and I got the Biobar JF.

Startron works slower than Biobar but it not only kills the alge/fungus but it breaks it down small enough to go thru the fuel filters to be burned with much less plugging of the filter.

I have treated a couple of vehicles and only needed 1 filter change on one of them and no filter change on the other.
