smokey cold start only ,very shakey cold, not going down on oil , no blow by , did glow plugs , is there a cold start advance [sujested by a non merc deisel tech.] what about fuel injector leakdown. tks

Air in the system? Hydraulic lifter leaking down after the engine sits for a while?

My SDL had some smokey start up's that were caused by the injectors leaking down after it sat overnight or such but would clear up after warm up. Sticking EGR valves can cause some sooty start up also

thanks for pointing out the model to trigger finger , the sdl puts out a smoke screen in the morning till warm 1 - 2 min. clears up and does not reocure unless it sits for more than a few hours , injector leak down ?? i dont know what else......
