Q on Replacing Engine Mounts

on a 123 wagon, is it necessary (or advisable) to replace engine shocks and shock mounts when replacing the engine mounts?

Thx

I am of the opinion that it would be best to have all the engine stabilizing components renewed at the same time. Worn engine shocks might cause premature wear of the engine mounts, and visa-versa....

If you are a stickler you can replace the engine shocks. It is not really necessary. I chose not to spend the additional $80-$100.

I changed out my engine mounts a while back. But not the engine shocks which are shot. I saw no difference in vibration. If you have some shaking you might want to do the mounts and shocks. When you do the mounts you have to atleast take the nut off the top of the shock or you will destroy the shock mount (ask me how I know). I wouldn't think waiting to change the shocks would hurt anything. The early models didn't have engine shocks anyway.

When you are under there you might aw well do it. I agree that all the engine mounting parts should be changed at the same time...
