A little TOO much info. Too much to sort through. The search option is too much of a PITA.

I try to use it to avoid starting "you should have searched" arguments... but it is annoying sometimes. If you aren't specific enough, you get at least 300 of the 600 or 700 threads available... too much to sift through... if you're too specific, or you're just right but the words weren't in the right order or you weren't standing on your head right... then you don't get the very thread you wanted. Often times i've wanted to search for one of my own threads and entered a direct quote... nothing.

It's still a good first resort but I'll be the... not the first, but one of the first to admit I have to ask anyway usually.

Use Google as your search engine.........not the forum. Put in "Mercedesshop.com" as the domain name.

You get all the benefits of phrases such as "radiator cap" or "heater core". The forum software cannot handle a phrase.

Don't use the forum software to perform searches!

This can certainly be accepted as Gospel from a moderator.

You'd be amazed at the success I've had with Google when compared to the forum. There are threads that I know exist and I cannot find them with the forum search. With a few more terms, Google picks them out nearly every time.

Well, stickys are limited. We just cannot have a sticky for every topic that people are interested in.

But, Roy has organized the important threads into groups based upon vehicle system. Check out "Do it yourself links by Parts Category". It's a special forum on the very first page, a few down from DD.

If you find a valuable thread that you believe should go into one of these categories, please let me or Roy know about it.

He's still got a bit too much junk in those forums, but, it's far better than searching the entire forum for what you're looking for.

Well, do we really need stickys for Vogtland Springs, Craigslist alerts, eBay alerts for that matter, Biodiesel and WVO?

True about limited stickies but I kinda think a good search method could be make better use of this site. Someone like me who has been around this forum a few years still needs to be reminded that you can use google more effectively.
BTW, I accidentally found out what a citrus flush was but reading another thread without really looking for it.

It's an ongoing battle.

The Vogtland springs should dissappear very soon.

Craiglist and eBay serve to eliminate the multitude of new threads that would appear if they were not stickies. Right now, I just move them over there.

Biodiesel and WVO does serve a purpose for those inclined to follow that topic.
