Topped her off, started great, drove over to the air pump and after filling the tires - dead again. Same thing as before. Nothing at all. Has a new battery, so it cannot be that. The bench tested the starter at the store before I took it so that should be good. I am torqued. After a 3 mile walk home I am considering abandoning the car...we both might be better off....I tried jumping the started in N and that did not work either.

What now?
I had a problem similar after replace my starter and I did the following:
At the fender on passenger side you will find a connection box terminal with a cover on it.Open cover and momentarely connect terminals 30 and 50.Your solenoide should click or engage the starter and make it run.
Be careful to just touch terminals MOMENTARELY.
Try it and you will figure out is the problem is your lock switch or other wiring.
Hope works.

Uncle

AFter reading every post on this board. I think this the likely failure is electrical in nature, and likely beyond my skill sets. I can tackle a lot, but am really poor at electrical troubleshooting. I have called in the cavalry, a close friend (retired Navy Masterchief) who has a garage is picking up the car this afternoon and hauling it to their shop to sort this out. I am also going to have them replace my AC compressor. If my mood does not change, I will likely then put the car on Ebay....

If the SD heads down this same path I am going to throw in the towel.

Thanks for everyone's help.
