Don't know anything about Mercedes dealers but I do have some experience with local indy's. Larry's Import Center in Virginia Beach has been honest with me but they are a little pricey. Import Service of Smithfield (757-357-9155) is where I take my stuff now. They have been honest and charged a fair price for the most part. I can get Larry's number if you need it.

I too like Larry's, although I haven't been in 3 years or so, as I now (try to) DIY all repairs. I have had minor issues there before, never with Larry, but sometimes when one of the second tier techs works on the car I feel like I know as much about the car as they do. They are completely honest in my experience.

No experience w/ Import Service.

There's a little two-man, one-garage shop in Norfolk called Liberty Mercedes Autowerks. The owner there is good, but he's (understandably) selective about the jobs he takes - he doesn't want jobs that will tie him up for three days, and keep him from getting to his other customers.

Also the local dealer is Phillips in Virginia Beach. I had them do the subframe recall on my 77 450SL - service writer pretty much blew me off, then, about 3 weeks later, was very apologetic when she found out the recall was still open and good. No problems with the work. They also did the alignment on my SD after I redid the front end - no problems there either. Pricey of course.

I also use Phillips for parts, and Larry for parts as well. Never had any work done by anybody but me, so can't help with that aspect. Let me know when you're coming down, I'd like to meet ya. Sort of a spontaneous mini GTG??
