96 E300d P1470
I have a problem that keeps coming up either P1400 and now after it was cleared, P1470. I read some old post, but I'm not sure the exact problem.
Any help? Dan |

I replaced it and after 10 miles of driving the code comes back. Could it be a ECM?

Knowing the fault code is half of diagnosing. Other half is to understand what causes the code.
Look to what the transducer controls....in this case that should be either the EGR valve or the resonance flaps. Both commonly stick alot on your engine. Take it apart and clean the gunk out of it, put it back together and clear the code. Keep your old (good) transducer in stock.

Mine is a 96 E300 also and it kept coming up until I replaced the wiring harness on the OM606 motor. No problems since! I wouldn't replace the transducer or flap valves. Clean the crud out with purple cleaner like Castrol Super clean from the intake manifold. Then undo the black tape on the transducer wires and individually retape the last 3 inches or so where the wire's insulation will crack and short out against each other. Then reset the stored code.

Clean the resonance flaps again and it appears to have solved the problem.
Thanks. |

At the end of your air cleaner tubing where it attaches to the crossover portion of your manifold is a butterfly valve (resonance flap); beneath your intake manifold is the EGR flap. Both control airflow.

You are cross posting on two threads....this thread pertains to a non-turbo engine; on that engine, sticky flaps are often a problem.
Your engine (as i learned on the "other" thread is turbo'd); the same tranducer that controls the EGR valve is used to control the turbo wastegate. Making certain the vacuum connections are still hooked up and then swapping the two are the first tests you should do. Look at the pictures on the other thread.
