The reason he asked is because in MB 80's era naming parlance, a 300TD is a "touring" vehicle (station wagon). The sedans are simply 300D (300SD if its an S class). We're just so good we all know that the 82 300D are turbo diesels

With respect to the A/C, it sounds like you may have a leak. Your car climate control also has a "servo" that is universally despised. Check out both the DIY article tab at the top of the page AND the DIY links tab, which is a quick way to find helpful threads. The diesel giant link provided earlier also shows a number of pictorials for common jobs on your car.

You may already know all this, but your car is a W123 chassis with an OM617 engine. Happy reading and wrenching!

Here's a quick tip. Add the year and modle of the MB in your signature line, and you will not be questioned on the type of car in future posts.

the a/c problems can be caused by tons of things, first things first, with the a/c set max cold and blower on high, does the compressor run? if so, follow the large line from the compressor to the firewall, and touch the metal portion of the line and see if it's cold. if so, you may have an air mixture issue bringing in outside air. if not, it could be the pressure switch on the reciever, or the evaporator. let us know which scenario works.
click the user cp link at the top of each page, put in your info there, so we will know where you are and what cars you have... my sig is a bit long.

Just dont know where to start or what questions to ask. Got it because I make my own biodiesel and the engine is in good shape 215k on the clock but it has been rebuilt by the local Dealer have all receipts. Main concern is to get dash lights and a/c working. Put new belt on compressor changed over to r134 worked for about 30 minutes now cant get compressor to engage. the 1st thing I woulda said is.... not to worry... all these issues are very common on the 123's. And u r in the right forum as you can already see. Of course these 3 issues cannot be fixed overnight but they can be fixed. i'll leave u with these words and let the members take over
