Odd W210 pic request... tailpipe

I finally realized why the whole drivers rear corner of my car is always black with soot. The tailpipe coming out of the muffler rusted off The muffler looks to be in fairly good shape though and since a replacement is $500+ from Phil I think I want to try having a new tailpipe welded to the muffler.

I believe its a single outlet that comes straight out a couple inches and angles down to the ground.

Could someone snap a quick pic to confirm for me

Thanks!
Zack

P.S. On a side note this was after pulling my intake manifold to clean out the gunk and resonance flaps. The amount of gunk was insane!!!

You're assessment of the exhaust is correct, one pipe coming out of the muffler. How's your "cat" looking. My entire exhaust system looks pretty good but the "cat" is rotting out. I wanna straight pipe it or install a resonator...

sorry, no picture but I can tell you mine is dual outlet that comes back and turns down about 3 inches from the real valence.

The OM606 turbos have a dual outlet... '97's have a single big outlet.

Well the last thing I'd want is anything noisey... I believe these have a Trap Oxidizer mine is about the 3rd object inline from the tailpipe and looks like a cat. It seems to be fine, however the outer layer or shielding had rusted off. The rest of the underside and exhaust looks perfectly fine, just the tailpipe and shielding on that, that have gone south.

I'll try a custom muffler shop later today, if they can weld on a small downturning tailpipe for short money, Ill be a happy camper!

Thanks guys!

michakaveli- How are those springs working out for you? Im still thinking about doing the same, especially since I just got some nice 17" Carlsson rims

There is no trap oxider on our diesels, that "3rd" object I believe is a resonator. I gotta take a closer look on my "cat" as the outer shielding is rusting off but I do over timed build up a light film of soot over the rear end...

The suspension so far is looking VERY well. I took it 2 Saturdays ago for an alignment. The camber on the front wheels is -1.5 degrees, unable ot perform any additional correction. Good setup for the track :-) I drove her from the house to the alignment shop, approx. 1.5 miles and she drove GREAT. Not too firm and not too soft. My car before didn't pass the "bounce" test she anything was an improvement.

Anywho, the ride height so far is perfect. Not too low or high. The front and rear control arms are essentially level. I still have to replace the fuel line o-rings with my Viton replacements as I need to get her ready for a FL trip in 1.5 weeks. I'm gonna try to snap some photos tonight of how she now stands prior to pulling her into the garage to replacing the o-rings.

Suspension wise your's looks just like mine did. I agree with you ont he Depo lights. On some cars it looks just right and on other they stand out too much...

I like those Depo's on your silver. I retrofitted my OEM halogen lamps to house a pair of Audi A4 xenon projectors.
